Windows 10 Edge browser and Update 1.1 for Dynamics CRM Online 2015

Microsoft-Edge

You’d better think twice before you upgrade to the new Windows 10 and its Edge browser.

In a recent planned system maintenance, Microsoft communicated the following:

We are pleased to support Win10 Edge browser for CRM 2015 Update 1.1 release. All Dynamics CRM releases including CRM 2011, CRM 2013, and CRM 2015 Update 0.2 (7.0.2) will continue to support Windows 10 with Internet Explorer 11. There is a known issue with Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 and Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013 for Outlook, preventing CRM for Outlook client to install on Windows 10 machines. This is actively being addressed and a fix will be available soon for CRM 2011 and CRM 2013 for Outlook.

So what does this mean for users:

  • If you update to Windows 10, your Outlook client will probably not work
  • Edge will not support older CRM versions

What should you do?

  • Wait untill your CRM version is supported by Edge (CRM 2015 on Edge browser will be available for CRM 2015 with Update 0.2 (7.0.2) and Update 1.1 (7.1.1) in September)
  • Use Internet Explorer (11)

    1. Hi Reynaldo,

I checked The Dynamics CRM Support blog and did not find any references to the error you are mentioning. Maybe you could share a bit more about the error you receive? Have you tried installing SQL Server Compact 4.0 separately?
